Our workshops.

Minibus Media offers participatory-video-, citizen-journalism- and edu-communication-workshops to institutions, organisations and individuals interested in combining video and journalism within their civic education activities.
Our classes are tailor-made designed to help your organisation establish sustainable progress with the latest multimedia resources available. Workshops can be built around a variety of subjects, from governance and democracy to environmental issues or human rights violations, depending on the focus of the partner organisation.

Participatory-video

Participatory-video

Participatory-video is a set of techniques to involve a group or community in shaping and creating their own film.

Minibus Media has worked with partner organisations in Africa, Germany and in Brazil to qualify participants to independently produce films on subjects that are relevant to them.
Topics may include citizen participation, environmental education, electoral education or the production of video-reports concerning institutional activities as well as video-reports or -documentations on human rights abuses.
Hip Hop Radio Edutainment

Hip Hop Radio Edutainment

Hip Hop Radio edutainment continues the tradition of African storytelling, using beats and rhymes to create content that can educate and express about various subjects.

Since its inception in 1974, Hip Hop has evolved globally but it continous until today to drive social change and inform its audience.
Chris, a long-time music enthusiast and black music-record collector since the late eighties, has developed a musical approach that revives the original values of Hip Hop culture: With the support of local radio stations and its partners on the ground, the goal is to(re-)activate a movement that combines education and entertainment, going beyond participation, empowerment and creativity but to take on the fight against the worldwide challenge of misinformation.
Citizen journalism

Citizen journalism

Citizen journalism is the act of non-professionals playing an active role in the production and dissemination of information.

During our workshops, participants receive an insight into the information production process and learn how to create news that is accessible to their target audiences. Minibus Media supports the use of participants’ local languages, as we understand this is a means for reaching target audiences and also preserving people’s cultural identity. The main outreach tools used in the workshops include video-production, photography, blog-creation, radio broadcasts as well as mobile-applications.
